Free Web Hosting With No Ads

By: Want To Know It

The best things in life are free, right? This post will look at where you can get free web hosting with no ads, along with some of the pros and cons of free web hosting services.

Where to Find One

United Net is my top pick of free web hosts that do not force you to show any of their ads. They do limit you to 100MB of bandwidth a month, and you are only allowed 15MB of free web space (unlike the unlimited free web space site I reviewed earlier). You are required to have a link to United Net on your site, a small price to pay for the free hosting. Unfortunately, PHP, CGI and MySQL are no longer supported. Here are some of the pros and cons of choosing free web hosts that do not force you to show ads.

Pros (Positives):

  • It’s free!
  • You are not forced to show any ads, but are usually required to link back to the hosting service.
  • You sometimes get a free email address (but not always).
  • Usually come with statistics, telling you how many visitors your sites is receiving everyday and where your visitors are coming from.
  • Can usually make a custom error 404 page.

Cons (Negatives):

  • The bandwidth and total amount of free web space that you have are usually quite small.
  • If you go over this limit, your site will go down until you upgrade your membership or go to another host.
  • Your web page will probably be very hard to edit, and many scripting options are not supported.
  • Some sites claim that they are ‘free’ but, in reality, they only offer a free service for a limited time, and add ads to your website after a few months.
  • Free hosts usually have slow loading times and your site may go offline at times.
  • Some force you to use a subdomain.
