How do you bake a potato
Step 1
Choose some potatoes that are suitable for baking (russet potatoes are a good choice). The size of the potato depends on personal preference. Give the potatoes a wash (and scrub if they are particularly dirty) so they are clean, but DON’T take the skin off. Then simply dry the potatoes with a paper towel.
Step 2
Use a fork and stab the potato 4-8 times deeply through the skin (this allows a place for the steam to vent during cooking). Now lightly coat each potato with a little bit of oil (olive, canola or other vegtable oils are best). You can use your hands or a brush to coat the potato and then sprinkle a little salt on each one. Heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 Celsius).
Step 3
Place on a baking tray in the oven and cook for approximately 1 hour (this varies due to the size of the potatoes). They should be golden brown and soft on the inside. Cut the potatoes in half and add any toppings you would like.
Step 4
Eat and enjoy!
