Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent

By: Want To Know It

Many people who are contemplating laser hair removal ask the question ‘is laser hair removal permanent’? This post will answer that burning question.

Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?

The simple answer to this question is not completely. Laser hair removal removes about 90% of the hairs on the body. The other 10% will still grow. That is why most laser hair removal centers recommend about 6 to 10 treatments to be sure that there are very few hairs that grow. Everyone responds to laser treatment differently. When compared to waxing or shaving, laser hair removal removes more hair than these solutions. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of lasers and stated that it is more ‘permanent hair reduction’ than ‘permanent hair removal’. Electrolysis, however, is commonly being used in conjunction with laser hair surgery as this is a permanent solution. It is only useful for small areas such as the upper lip and chin as electrolysis is a slow process.

You should note, however, that changes in the body may stimulate hair growth again. Falling pregnant, menopause, medications and stress can all change the hormone levels in the body, which can stimulate hair growth. There is also a very small percentage of the population that show no response to laser hair treatments.
