The New York Jets are a professional football team that compete in the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference in the National Football League (NFL). The team was founded in 1959 as the Titans of New York and a year later they began playing in the American Football League (AFL). In 1963 the team was sold and renamed the New York Jets. The Jets were part of the AFL-NFL merger and in 1968, two years before the leagues formally merged, they won their first and only Super Bowl 16-7 against the Baltimore Colts (now the Indianapolis Colts). Let’s find out where the Jets play their home games.
Where do the New York Jets play?
The Jets currently play their home games at MetLife Stadium, which is located in New Jersey. The stadium was a joint venture between the Jets and the New York Giants and is the first and only to be built and used as a home stadium by two separate NFL teams. The stadium was completed in 2010 at a cost of $1.6 billion and has a capacity of 82,566. It also hosts a number of other events such as concerts, soccer internationals, wrestling and more.
Prior to moving into MetLife Stadium the Jets played their home games at Giants stadium. They moved into this stadium to avoid scheduling conflicts with the New York Mets at Shea Stadium where they had played since 1964. However this meant that they were forced to use a stadium decorated with the colors and logos of another team. Every effort to build their own stadium was blocked and they eventually settled on the agreement with the Giants.

In the first 3 years the Jets played at the old polo grounds in Upper Manhattan. However, this facility was outdated and they quickly signed an agreement to move into Shea Stadium.
