Thanks Rodney. It seems you are correct, as confirmed by the official Mountain Dew website (http://www.mountaindew.com/). I was going off info on a BBC report that is obviously wrong. I have edited the post to correct the mistake.

The original Mountain Dew formula was invented in Marion, VA., NOT in Tennessee. It was first MARKETED in Tennessee, but the first bottles of the Dew were made in Marion.
