Many people long to get into shape but fear that it takes too long as is not worth the effort. This post will tell just how long it takes to start getting into shape and will look at some of the benefits of getting fit!
How long does it take to get in shape?
Getting into shape should only take 2 to 3 months depending on how committed you are! If you can get motivated enough to start exercising, you are starting the process. It is important that you do exercises that ‘push the limits’ of what you can do. For some people, just doing a short walk will be difficult. For others, you may need to jog or pump weights to really push yourself. Always be careful, however, not to overdo it and injure yourself.
After you get the motivation to begin exercise, the next important thing is to keep going! As your exercises start to become ‘easier’, make it a little bit harder. For example, start walking a bit further each day or do more and more push-ups or sit-ups. As you start to ‘push the boundaries’ your body will be getting into shape. As I stated earlier, this process should only take 2 or 3 months. Keep at it and exercise most days during the week.
Lastly, don’t forget that getting into shape also involves your diet! If you eat a lot of foods you know you shouldn’t, look carefully at your diet and start making changes. Eat a balanced diet with some meat and lots of vegetables. Try and cut out sugars and fatty foods in your diet. Believe it or not, a healthy diet will help you get in shape much faster.
Remember, it is often hard to get started and motivate yourself to get fit. However, it is well worth it! People who are fit and healthy live longer and studies have shown that fit people are happier than unfit people! You are also less likely to have health problems, especially heart trouble. Also, exercise can be a lot of fun- especially if you do it with another person. It can be a great time to catch up with friends or make new friends!
