Is Red Bull Unhealthy? Some Dangers of Drinking Red Bull
Here is a list of some of the dangers of Red Bull.
- Caffeine addiction. Caffeine is a very addictive drug and Red Bull contains about as much caffeine as one cup of coffee. If you drink even one can of Red Bull every day you risk becoming a caffeine addict. This can lead to insomnia, headaches, nervousness and an increase in heart rate. The withdrawal symptoms are quite serious and can include headaches, drowsiness, pain in the stomach and joints, inability to concentrate and irritability.
- Mixing Red Bull (or any other energy drink) with alcohol is extremely dangerous. Caffeine masks the effect of alcohol making people think they are not as drunk as they really are.
- Studies have shown that Red Bull increases the risk of strokes and heart attacks, even in teenagers and young adults. Even one can of Red Bull can damage blood vessels. The risk of disease is temporarily raised to a level comparable to that of an individual who has coronary heart disease.
Is Red Bull Unhealthy- Ultimate Conclusion
Red Bull is very unhealthy. While it may give a temporary boost of energy, there are no other positive effects of drinking Red Bull. By drinking Red Bull you risk caffeine addiction and heart disease.
If you do enjoy drinking Red Bull make sure you limit your intake (maximum of 2 cans a day but others suggest 1 as the absolute daily limit). However, Red Bull should never be consumed in the following circumstances:
- If you are severely stresses, have high blood pressure or any existing heart conditions.
- If you are also drinking alcohol.
- If you are pregnant
- If you are a young child (remember, caffeine is a very strong and addictive drug)
- If you have just played sport or engaged in other physical activities.
- If you are dehydrated- Red Bull does not rehydrate you but merely dehydrates you further. This is also why it should not be consumed after you play sport.
- If you are on medication, without medical approval.
