When Was Microsoft Founded

As Windows is the biggest operating system the world over it is conceivable to say that all computer users have had access to a number of Microsoft creations. Microsoft is an American company that develops, manufactures, licenses, and supports a wide range of products and services related to computing. It is most well known for its operating systems and office suite programs such as word, excel, PowerPoint etc. Most home computers run using the windows operating system which is a creation of the Microsoft Company. Microsoft has been in existence for 36 years and in that time has grown to a multi-billion dollar company.

The Founding of Microsoft
The company Microsoft was founded on April 4, 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen, with the backing of MITS (Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems). Its original purpose was to develop and sell BASIC interpreters for the Altair 8800. Later during the mid 1980’s Microsoft became an even more viable business with the development of MS-DOS, an operating system for IBM computers. In 1984 it developed it operating system of Microsoft Windows. Microsoft continued to develop programs and in 1990 it began to dominant the office suite market with the release of Microsoft Office. Over the coming years it rewrote, expanded and improved upon its operating systems and office suites releasing new updates and versions as improvements were made. In recent years Microsoft has even expanded its focus to include gaming consoles with the creation of the Xbox and the Xbox 360. It has also developed a range of products and services for consumer electronics and digital services with electronics programs such as Zune, MSN and Windows Phone.
