Where do orangutans live?
Orangutans are native to parts of Indonesia and Malaysia. They can be found on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra. Their natural habitat is in the rainforest areas of these islands. Unfortunately, deforestation in many of these areas have severely impacted the population of orangutans. They are now considered to be an endangered species. In fact, one of the species is now listed as critically endangered. A number of different conservation efforts are currently underway to save the remaining species of orangutans.
