Where is India Located

India is one of the largest countries in the world in terms of both size and population. The country covers more than 3.2 million square kilometers (1.2 million square miles), which makes it the 7th largest country in the world in terms of area. It is also home to more than 1.2 billion people, which makes it the second largest country in the world in terms of population. The history of India can be traced back to ancient times, but the modern country is relatively young, having achieved independence from Britain in the 1940’s. Let’s find out where this country is located.

Where is India located?
India is found in South Asia where much of the country’s land mass sticks out into the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea (to the west) and the Bay of Bengal (to the east). It also shares land borders with other Asian countries such as Burma and Bangladesh (east), China, Nepal and Bhutan (north east) and Pakistan (west). The Island nations of Sri Lanka and the Maldives are also found relatively close to the coast of India. India also claim a number of disputed regions. Arunachal Pradesh is an Indian state that lies to the north east of the country and most of the region is claimed by China and Taiwan, where it is known as South Tibet. Jammu and Kashmir, also called Indian controlled Kashmir, is another region that is disputed and parts of the territory is claimed by China and Pakistan. This region has been the cause of much tension between India and Pakistan and they have fought 3 wars for this region alone. The countries are bordered by the Line of Control, which is an unofficial military control line. This is recognized as one of the most dangerous places in the world!
