Largest Population on Earth
The country with the largest population on earth is none other than the People’s Republic of China. This country alone has an estimated population of 1,341,000,000. That means that one in every seven or so people on the planet lives in the country of China. This is despite the fact that the government of China has a strict one child policy. China is one of the world’s oldest civilizations and has 4,000 years of recorded history. It is becoming one of the world powerhouses in the economic market. China covers an area of approximately 59,596,961 square kilometers (3,705,407 sq mi). It is not a tiny country in any sense of the word, but large sections of the population occupy the major cities along the eastern coast.

The second most populous country in the world is India with an estimated 1,210,193,422 people. It is amazing to think that 1.2 billion people occupy a country that is 3,287,263 square kilometers (1,269,219 sq mi). The country of India could fit inside China approximately 18 times, but holds only 130,000,000 less people!

The next largest country is the United States with a population of 311,197,000, but that doesn’t even hold a candle to the enormous populations of China and India who together have 37 % of the world’s population.
